Fire Island Ferries

The Fire Island Ferry service provides the most convenient way to travel to the eighteen different Fire Island communities.
There are three terminals on Long Island that the Fire Island Ferries provides service to. Each Ferry services different communities
through out the Island. Listed bellow, are the Fire Island Ferry services.

  • Bay Shore Terminal service: Kismet | Saltaire | Fair Harbor | Dunewood | Atlantique | Ocean Beach |Seaview | Ocean Bay Park
  • Sayville Ferry Terminal: Fire Island Pines | Cherry Grove | Sunken Forest | Water Island
  • Patchogue Ferry Terminal: Davis Park | Watch Hill
Long Island Rail Road

The Long Island Rail Road is an alternate means of transportation you can use to get to Fire Island. The LIRR provides eight Fire Island beach packages.

  • To travel to Kismet / Fire Island Lighthouse, Ocean Beach and Ocean Bay Park via LIRR, take the train to Bay Shore Station and board a David Brothers Taxi to the Fire Island Ferries.
  • To travel to Cherry Grove, Fire Island Pines and the Sunken Forest, via LIRR, take the train to Sayville Station and board a Colonial Taxi to the Sayville Ferry.
  • To travel to Watch Hill via LIRR, take the train to the Patchogue Station, Watch Hill Ferry Terminal is a short walk west on Division Street,
    then south on West Avenue.
  • To travel to Davis Park via LIRR, take the train to the Patchogue Station, and board Lindy’s Taxi to the Davis Park Ferry.
  • All the terminals are also in walking distance from the LIRR Stations, so if it is nice out..enjoy a stroll to your favorite terminal!
Car

Travelers from the North have a choice of two main routes to take: the Long Island Expressway to Exit 53 (Bay Shore), Exit 59 (Sayville) or Exit 63 (Patchogue), and the Grand Central-Northern State Parkway to exit 31A. Along the South Shore the best route to the ferry towns is via the Southern State Parkway, providing there is no Jones Beach traffic.

  • Driving From New York City
    Take the Grand Central and continue as above. Or take the Long Island Expressway and continue with the Meadowbrook Parkway as above.
  • Driving from Brooklyn and points south:
    Take the Belt Parkway to the Southern State East to Exit 42 South (5th Ave. Bay Shore). Make left off ramp and then a quick right onto Fifth Avenue Take Fifth Avenue to the first traffic light after the LIRR tracks. Turn left onto Union Boulevard. At the third light, make right onto Fourth Avenue, which becomes Maple Avenue after the next light (Main Street). Ferries leave from the first parking lot on the left.
  • Driving From Staten Island Verrazano Bridge to Belt Parkway to Southern State Parkway. Continue with Southern State Parkway as above.
Water Taxi / Private Boat

Transportation is also provided to Fire Island via private boat or water taxi. Docking is available at most waterfront restaurants, as well as in the
marinas of the following communities:
